The Forbes Travel Guide has announced its second annual Verified Travel Awards, recognizing airlines and airports that deliver an exceptional, world-class traveler experience. For the second consecutive year, LaGuardia Airport earned the top spot in the Best U.S. Airport category, praised for its spacious gate areas, cutting-edge architecture, and culinary offerings inspired by New York’s most renowned dining institutions.
Since its opening in 2022, Terminal B at LaGuardia has redefined what travelers can expect from a modern airport. Designed to celebrate the spirit of flight and the energy of New York City, the terminal offers grand, light-filled spaces with 60-foot-high ceilings and expansive windows that create a welcoming environment for both arriving and departing passengers. The retail and dining selections highlight beloved New York favorites, while indoor green spaces—complete with lush landscaping and sculptural seating—evoke the charm of the city’s famous pocket parks.
“Terminal B represents the best of what can happen when design and collaboration elevate public infrastructure,” said Paul Auguste, Firmwide Director of Aviation + Transportation at HOK. “Working closely with LaGuardia Gateway Partners and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, we created a terminal that captures New York’s grandeur while ensuring a calm, seamless experience for travelers. This recognition from Forbes validates the strength of that shared vision.”
Over the past few years, LaGuardia Airport and Terminal B have earned an impressive array of honors, including Skytrax’s 2023 World’s Best New Airport Award and UNESCO’s 2021 Prix Versailles Award. The terminal has also been recognized by organizations such as the Airports Council International, Urban Land Institute New York, the Chicago Athenaeum, multiple chapters of the American Institute of Architects, and the Design-Build Institute of America.
The design firm HOK, which led the architectural and planning vision for Terminal B, has also received global acclaim—earning spots on Fast Company’s 2022 list of Most Innovative Companies and TIME Magazine’s 2022 list of Most Influential Companies for its contribution to the terminal’s design excellence.
“We are honored to receive this recognition, which reflects the leadership and vision of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in fostering the public-private partnerships that made LaGuardia’s redevelopment possible,” said Suzette Noble, Chief Executive Officer of LaGuardia Gateway Partners, the manager and developer of Terminal B. “We are grateful to everyone in the LGA community who works tirelessly each day to achieve our mission of creating an airport experience that is truly second to none.”
The continued recognition of Terminal B underscores the success of LaGuardia’s transformation into a model for modern, passenger-focused airport design—one that combines architectural innovation, sustainability, and the unmistakable character of New York City.
