Severe thunderstorms and heavy rain have pummeled New York City, causing significant disruptions to transportation. Subways, flights, and roadways are experiencing delays.
In response, the NYC Emergency Management Department has issued a travel advisory urging residents to exercise caution. Mayor Eric Adams is advising New Yorkers to expect travel complications and avoid unnecessary journeys.

NYC Under Threat: Severe Thunderstorms Possible
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 11 p.m. for parts of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service.
New Jersey faces a slight risk of severe weather, while New York City and the rest of the Tri-State area have a marginal risk.
The MTA has advised commuters to allow extra time for travel and to exercise caution while on buses and in train stations.

LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark airports experienced ground stops due to severe weather conditions, resulting in widespread flight delays.
